Popular Nollywood actor, Joseph Okechukwu has said that his 2020 New Year resolution would be to do everything within his capacity to see that the US president, Donald J. Trump is re-elected for a second term in office.
Arguably the only African celebrity who identifies openly with Donald Trump, Joseph insists he has put in place a fairly robust political machinery to canvass votes for president Trump in 2020. He says he’s confident that president Trump will win the polls by a landslide.
Joseph became an ardent Trump supporter between 2015 and 2016 owing to what he called “a divine awakening.” Joseph vigorously campaigned for president Trump in 2016, winning him scores of votes, especially of Democratic-leaning Africans who eventually voted Trump on account of his persistence. Joseph believes he’s more prepared to do so much more for Trump’s re-election campaign in 2020.
In one of his viral videos put out in the heat of the impeachment process of the House of Representatives in December of 2019, Joseph boasted that “president Trump will win the 2020 polls by an overwhelming majority, thrice the majority that voted for him in 2016” and he insisted that “Trump will become the first American Republican President to win the highest block black votes in history” – implying that more black people will vote for Donald J. Trump in 2020 than ever voted for any Republican president in history.
Asked whether he is planning to meet with Trump anytime soon, Joseph said “This isn’t about meeting Trump. It’s a call to duty and we are duty-bound. Donald J. Trump is the watchword for “self preservation.” This man is the only American President in my life time who has been so kind and done so much for the continent of Africa in so short a time, yet the media is silent. No one gives him credit. Why?! Because they don’t want Africans, Christians to know that Trump is not their enemy! That’s the more reason I’m fired up and ready to fight for him.
Not only is he a defender of Israel, he’s the only world leader who has made his stand known against religious persecution and he fights it with everything, at a time when Christians are being massacred across sub-Saharan Africa, mostly in Nigeria. Recently, the US State Department placed Nigeria on its Special Watchlist, and put the Buhari regime on notice, scaring the brutal regime to death. There are also diplomatic interventions in Cameroon, South Sudan, Liberia, etc. Imagine if we didn’t have Trump? What do you think would be the fate of Christians, Africans today? This man is sent from God for such a time as this and trust me, we will do whatever it takes to ensure he’s returned for a second term in office. He has to finish what he started. And he will.”
Haven faced so much opposition and isolation in the past for supporting Trump, Joseph said he could care less. He noted that things would never be as bad as they were for him in 2016 when people called him unprintable names, un-friended him on social media platforms, and cut ties with him in real life etc. He believes the knowledge gap on who Trump really is to Africans has been mostly bridged between 2016 and 2019 owing to his consistent enlightenment campaigns on various platforms. “But even if it gets to that point,” he says “I will still do what I have to do. There are many of us now. We’re an unstoppable Trump army. Trump must serve his second term in office and Pelosi, Schiff and Nadler can’t stop it. The masses are awake. Blacks, Africans, Minorities are all walking away from Do-Nothing, Thought-Policing, Liberal Dems and now walking towards the GOP and its candidate, Donald J. Trump – the man who actually does what he says!”
The 2020 United States presidential election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 3, 2020.
