On the way to the orphanage, in Uganda, Torch of Christ Ministries stopped by a roadside market that has the best grilled chicken on a stick. Brother Philip had been wanting to preach there so we took a few minutes so Brother Philip could bare his soul.
Some Muslims challenged him a bit at first and made many gestures for him to leave, but a crowd grew and Brother Philip Shared the Person of Jesus Christ and soon after, many had their hands up praying to follow Jesus.
There was a man and woman who wanted to raise their hand but were afraid. In Uganda, people are a bit shy. But when the man raised His hand first, she also did as well and many others followed suit.
A couple of people in the crowd were a bit mocking but there were more than a few genuine hearts in the crowd. According to Brother Philip “This is probably my favorite segment of preaching overall in Uganda”.
Christians in eastern Uganda are among those who face the most serious dangers in the world, according to World Watch Monitor, a group that tracks persecutions of Christians. The charity counted at least two incidents of Muslims killing Christians as well as vandalism of churches.
Concentrated largely in the country’s east, Muslims comprise about 14 percent of Uganda’s primarily Christian population of 42 million. But the numbers and the clout that comes with them are in dispute.
In eastern Uganda, Islamist extremists have intensified their campaign to convert more people to Islam. Mostly due to the fact that they witness their fellow muslim brethren converting to Christianity in masses.
