US Elections: Pope Francis Congratulates Joe Biden

Several days after the U.S elections, Pope Francis has congratulated Joe Biden.

His holiness and Joe Biden spoke on the phone earlier today, according to the Biden Transition Team.

A spokesperson said: “President-elect Joe Biden spoke this morning with His Holiness Pope Francis.

“The president-elect thanked His Holiness for extending blessings and congratulations and noted his appreciation for His Holiness’ leadership in promoting peace, reconciliation, and the common bonds of humanity around the world.”

They added: “The president-elect expressed his desire to work together on the basis of a shared belief in the dignity and equality of all humankind on issues such as caring for the marginalized and the poor, addressing the crisis of climate change, and welcoming and integrating immigrants and refugees into our communities.”

Biden, who is Catholic, is said to have met at least two of the three last popes.

Many Catholics who took exception to Biden’s far left, ultra liberal agendas like abortion, gay marriage, etc. Had hoped for a sharp rebuke from the Pope. This call, they say, now implies the Pope has Biden’s back.

Russian, Brazilian, Chinese and Mexican leaders have declined to congratulate Joe Biden citing ongoing disputes over the elections.

Mexico’s president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador reiterated Thursday that he would not congratulate Biden until all election-related disputes are settled and a clear winner emerges.
